You are here: Parent Champions conference and awards 2019
The Parent Champions conference and awards 2019 was held on Tuesday 12 March 2019.
The Parent Champions conference is held every year to celebrate the achievements of Parent Champions and gives attendees an opportunity to learn more from the experiences of local Parent Champions schemes.
130 parents and professionals gathered from across the UK in the new conference centre at the Coram Campus, to hear how Parent Champions are impacting so many communities. Sarah Lewis, Director of System Leadership and Strategy (Early Years and Schools), Department for Education was able to join us and she spoke about the government’s priorities for improving children’s development. Debbie Weekes-Bernard, Deputy Mayor of London for Social Integration, Social Mobility & Community Engagement, spoke about the her work promoting and establishing integration between people and communities in London. Renuka Jeyarajah-Dent, Deputy CEO and Director of Operations at Coram spoke about the importance of connection and belonging and why the work of Coram and Coram Family and Childcare especially Parent Champions was vital to promoting this.
We also heard inspiring stories from Parent Champions and their coordinators through plenary sessions and workshops - a huge thank you to everyone who shared their experiences.
