You are here: Coordinator workshop: Parent Champions engaging with families - home learning, SEND and rural communities
Family and Childcare Trust is offering a new workshop for Parent Champions coordinators that will help you develop Parent Champions scheme around:
-
supporting home learning
-
engaging with parents of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
-
engaging with parents in rural areas
As part of this workshop, we will be sharing three new resource packs that Family and Childcare Trust has developed to help Parent Champions promote home learning and engaging with families in rural areas and those of children with SEND.
This interactive workshop will provide you with the knowledge and tools to develop your Parent Champions to effectively deliver key messages to parents. It will give you the opportunity to share good practice and hear from others delivering home learning messages. You will also receive information about the new accreditation that the Parent Champions volunteer training offers to Parent Champions.
At the workshop we will:
-
Explore the key messages Parent Champions can share about home learning, including its importance in children’s development, why some parents might find it difficult, and where parents can turn to for support and advice.
-
Discuss the issues that parents in rural communities, and those of children with SEND might be facing, and how Parent Champions can engage and signpost these families effectively
-
Provide a comprehensive overview of the new resource pack, and enable you to use them with your Parent Champions
Please note: the “Engaging rural communities” session will be an optional session at the end of the workshop. For those who are not reaching parents in rural communities there will be an opportunity to leave before this final session.
The cost for this workshop is £150 per person. Thanks to funding from the Department for Education we are able to offer this workshop FREE to Parent Champions coordinators whose scheme is a member of the Parent Champions National Network.
