You are here: News Campaigning for Flexible Childcare for Parents

The Family and Childcare Trust has launched a campaign today to make sure you can access your free childcare entitlements at the times of day that suit you and your work life.

From 2017, three and four year olds will be able to get 30 hours of free childcare a week, but we’re concerned that too many parents struggle with the existing 15 hours of free childcare because they are only offered at certain times of the day, are limited to term time, or only available on certain days of the week.

It is really important that when free childcare is expanded, the system is ready and able to meet the needs of working parents.

This is why we have launched a petition to persuade the Government to invest savings from the delay to the Tax Free Childcare scheme (where in 2017 the Government will top up 20% of your childcare costs, saving you up to £2000 a year), and use this money - £535 million - to invest in flexible childcare.

We want you to join us in our call to George Osborne, Chancellor of Exchequer, to invest in flexible childcare and support parents like you who struggle to afford childcare, and must be able to take full advantage of the existing and future free childcare offers at the times that suit you and your working life.
